When Veronica Heltne worked at Schibsted, she was in the midst of major reorganizations and challenging change processes. In a media industry characterized by constant pressure for high targets, cost cutting, and the demand to be a Nordic leader, she experienced yet another challenge firsthand – 350 people had to leave the company.
In this demanding landscape, Veronica saw the need for more tools – both for personal development and to support teams and leaders through change. When she became familiar with Ambitionprofile, she quickly recognized its value:
– Ambitionprofile provides a unique combination of self-insight and understanding of how we can support each other in the team, especially when demands and stress are high, she explains.
The assessment also provides insight into your own drive and how you function best – and helps you clarify what you need from others to perform at your best. It shows how you can get support on your own terms, because we are motivated by and handle challenges in different ways.
With Ambitionprofile in her toolkit
Veronica views Ambitionprofile as an important contribution to helping leaders improve and teams collaborate more effectively.
– I wanted tools that not only provide insight but can also be directly translated into practical changes, she explains.
To become certified, Veronica first went through a two-day course, then used the tool in practice, and finally shared experiences at a certification gathering.
The course – a safe framework for developing skills
Veronica describes the course as a holistic experience where theory and practical training went hand in hand. Skilled facilitators, an inclusive learning environment, and room to practice made her feel well-prepared.
After the course with Ambitionprofile Academy, she also gained access to useful worksheets and practical material, which she could use directly in her own processes. This made the transition from course participant to practicing facilitator natural and secure.
– It was good to feel that I had both the tools and the support behind me when I was going to hold my first workshop.
First workshop – from learning to concrete impact
Shortly after the course, Veronica held a workshop for a leadership group of seven people.
Each participant took the Ambitionprofile assessment and reflected on their individual report using the accompanying worksheets. Then they gathered as a team and shared their reflections.
Through open conversations, supported by the assessment results, the participants gained a new understanding of themselves, their colleagues, and the team as a whole. The feedback was very positive:
Participants experienced increased self-insight – a value in itself. Several also highlighted that it was a good supplement to existing tools for building teams and effective leadership groups.
Participants appreciated the joint reflection afterward, which helped to highlight different perspectives on both similarities and differences within the team. It was seen as valuable that participants opened up and shared experiences about themselves in a structured and safe way.
Several have actively used the Ambitionprofile report in 1:1 conversations to reflect on their own reactions and better understand others' perspectives. This has led to increased understanding of why we react differently in given situations – and how to meet each other with greater insight and empathy.
For Veronica Heltne, this was confirmation of how effective Ambitionprofile can be in development work – and that as a facilitator, she could offer something that created real value.
Next steps – development, community, and more opportunities
Veronica Heltne wants to use Ambitionprofile actively in her work with individuals, teams, and organizations.
At the same time, she continues to be part of Ambitionprofile's Trainers Community – a digital community where other certified individuals share experiences, gain professional development, and provide continuous feedback to each other. This support gives Veronica both inspiration and security to develop further, and provides her with access to professional materials and events that help her stay updated and relevant for future assignments.
